About the TravellingFlip

I caught the travel bug after my backpacking trip to France, Italy and Switzerland in 1996. It was the thing to do after university. Thought I was cured of this illness but I now know it’s been lying dormant. It came back in full force after our two week trip to Italy in 2011. Wish there was a cure for this illness, but alas, there is none. The only thing to do is to feed what has now become an obsession. Unfortunately, I think my hubby has caught the same illness. So, finances permitting, we hope to travel more often and explore this amazing planet we live in.

By the way, does anybody else still use a travel journal or has everyone gone digital?

Travel is not my only obsession. I’m just as passionate about art, architecture, photography, design, books (fiction mostly), and anything interesting. I’m not a pure couch potato either (although I do love to watch TV and go to the movies!) so you’ll sometimes find me on the golf course or hurtling down slopes on my skis. Hubby tried to teach me how to snowboard but I got tired of falling on my ass, so I gave up, much to my hubby’s disappoint.

Home is Toronto, Canada. It’s not perfect but it’s home and we love it.

You can also connect with me on Twitter at @mmdayao but be warned, I tweet a lot… well, maybe not as much as I used to.

This blog is the creative outlet for my travel photography. Most of the time you’ll find me sitting in a cubicle drafting and negotiating commercial leases. My hope is that this blog will entice you to get out there and explore this awesome world we live in. Be a tourist in your own city! Venture out of your comfort zone once in awhile. Happy travels everyone!

I thought you might be interested in a vacation infographic we just published, it’s titled ‘Vacation time goes unused for most Americans’, check it out: http://complianceandsafety.com/blog/vacation-infographic-vacation-time-goes-unused-for-most-americans/

Fascinating and a little sad. I think it all comes down to the North American way of life. We’re constantly on the go for many reasons. Harder these days as most people are doing more than one person’s job. Thanks so much for stopping by.

Thank you for visiting! I was in Siena a couple of years ago and had planned to study there too but that didn’t quite work out to my dismay because the class was cancelled. But I love Siena and I look forward to perusing your site some more! Cheers!
